After being picked up from your cruise ship or hotel, travel with us through the Hutt Valley and over the Rimutaka Hill. Along the way you may wish to stop at Kaitoke Regional Park. Here you can visit the location of Rivendell, home of the elves in The Lord of the Rings. Alternatively take a short walk over a swingbridge and through an ancient rainforest, where some of the trees are estimated to be 1,200 years old!
Witness a change in scenery ,as we descend into Martinborough, moving from lush forested hills to a dry open valley.
Travelling with us through the vineyards, you will find out more about the history of the families who have made these wines internationally renowned, and with over 20 wineries there is a lot of choice as we visit for wine tastings. Enjoy lunch and a glass of wine on a vineyard. A favourite of ours is dining al fresco, and overlooking the Terraces, at the award winning Tirohana Estate.
Depending on the time you have, we can also include an opportunity to visit an olive grove, Papawai Marae or the boutique shops of Greytown, including Schoc Chocolates, before heading back to Wellington.
